This line of CB radios, all featuring fully illuminated front panels, is designed to make CB operation as easy on the eyes at night or during the day. NightWatch technology is exclusive to Cobra within the CB market. Cobra's NightWatch line employs similar cutting-edge technology to that now being used by the military in the cockpits of its aircraft and fighting vehicles. For the ultimate in driver-friendly technology in all lighting conditions, the CBs are illuminated by solid-state electro-luminescent backlighting powered by a dedicated integrated circuit and incorporate a variable dimmer control which adjusts the brightness of the entire front panel, including the channel display, signal strength meter and status LEDs.The line of NightWatch CB radios incorporates Cobra's exclusive, patent-pending SoundTracker technology, which reduces static and airwave noise by up to 90 percent. Cobra has added the NightWatch feature to its line of best-selling Classic CBs. All share key characteristics designed for ease-of-use and safety. Tactile control dials with "fins" and "flats" - another feature requested by drivers - allow users to actually feel where the dials are in rotation. A front mic connector, which allows the CB to be easily installed above, in or under the dash, helps maximize limited in-vehicle space. It seems to work just fine. Received my order in good time and have installed it in/on my 2006 Jeep. Kenneth It was well worth the $100 I paid for it. I mounted it on the rear of the center console. The only thing I am going to do to secure it better is make an additional bracket that will cover the existing mounting bolt/screws so it can't be removed or stolen as easy if just left the way it was installed by the instructions.
Also since it may be installed via a cigarette plug in it may pick up a little engine noise which is a small squeal and hardly noticeable. I don't know much about CB's but purchased this one and it works great. I guess this means it was meant for a hard wire install but that is not what I wanted.It works very nice and has many benefits while traveling. The unit doesn't come with the cigarette power adapter either but if you go to Radio Shack you can get this plug having screw nuts on the back where you attach the power wires and just plug it in. It has all the stuff people said you would need like RF Gain. It installs in a flash, just hook up the antenna which I purchased the Cobra HG A2000 High Gear CB Antenna, you will need to buy the antenna it doesn't come with one.
Amazon.dot-com made it happen in plenty of time and in fine shape. I have had a Cobra 25NW for some time, and my son really admired it, so I got him one for X-mas.
But all in all a great radio for the money. I have had this Radio for 2 1/2 years and has worked fine, although I would suggest getting a better mic, the stock one leaves a lot to be desired.
